The Angeles National Forest, including the newly established San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, has long been a refuge for the people of Los Angeles. Its cool canyons and snow-topped peaks have helped Angelenos cool down on hot days and even today aids in our resilience to severe high temperature.
The mountains are also a vital source of drinking water for Southern California.
Given new challenges from climate change, we need the ecological services provided by the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.
I encourage you to strongly protect and not de-list LA’s mountains from monument status.
Thank you for your consideration.
