RAeS Evening Lecture - I can’t do up buttons. However, I can fly an aeroplane
Kevin Arblaster overcame physical disability to achieve his life’s ambition - becoming a pilot. Kevin explains how he overcame prejudice and the regulations to fulfil his dream. His inspirational talk highlights the potential of differently abled people.

Kevin developed cerebral palsy as a child. Being determined to not let disability define his life, he studied for his HND in Computer Software Engineering and is self-employed as a computer programmer. He took up flying in 1998 and with the help of the British Disabled Flying Association (now Aerobility) he first flew solo in 2010, finally qualifying for the Private Pilot’s Licence in 2018. He was awarded the Pooley’s Aviator Sword in recognition of his outstanding achievement.
