Class description:
“Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46) As Christians we are “supposed” to be full of peace, yet we all have difficulty finding and keeping peace. What does a psychotherapist, author, busy wife, and award-winning worrier tell her friends about really finding peace?

Well, in today’s stressful world faith-based counselors and science are noting the importance of meditation (mindfulness). Meditation is proven to reduce stress, increase focus and even quell anxiety or panic.

Come away to a quiet place—this early evening class. We’ll be educated about mindfulness/meditation, scriptural background for meditation and you will leave the first class having practiced your own meditation. Participants will discover a greater, lasting peace from week one, and will become equipped to have a (brief or longer) daily meditation practice. An additional benefit from this class is that we will explore whole body relaxation to help you (or your friends) reduce stress/anxiety.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8)

We will have one to two texts to follow, and participants are asked to bring a blank journal to each class.
