Players need only apply if they are eligible for selection and available to play in Rome.
Players need only apply if they regularly play competitive events in either the Open or 4.5+ categories.  The 4.5+ “cut-off” is not based on DUPR rating but is more about the competitive peer group.
The selection committee and other experienced players/coaches/administrators may also encourage some players to apply who may be unsure on whether to apply or not. This latter approach does not bestow favouritism nor increase likelihood of selection but is intended at ensuring there is the widest pool of potential available for selection.
