The competition consists of two rounds: Online submission and a final round.

Online submission:
- Register online at https://bit.ly/slamyourpoetry19
- Submit poem to prevents3@popularworld.com 
- Participants are free to exercise polite creativity, but poems should revolve around the following concepts: Category A – “As I Read”; and Category B – “Reading Between The Lines”.
- There is NO word limit, but poem when recited must not exceed 3 minutes.
- Participants are required to submit their original work (poem) by 11.59pm, 2 Aug (Fri).
- 20 poets per category shall be shortlisted, and announced on 5 Aug (Mon) on POPULAR’s Facebook Page
- Every shortlisted poem shall be posted on POPULAR’s Facebook Page for online voting.
- Online voting will run from 5 – 9 Aug.
- Online voting will be based on the number of “likes” for each post (poem). The poet with the most liked poem (per category) will be the winner of the Voters’ Choice Award.
- Shortlisted poets shall be invited to attend our SPCC Mega Bookfair for the final round recital.

Final round:
- Each poet gets 3 minutes to recite their poem.
- A bell shall be sounded on the 2nd minute, as a reminder. Poets exceeding the time limit will have their marks deducted.
- Poets may NOT use props or any musical accompaniments. There shall be NO extra marks accorded for costumes.
- Poets are allowed to beatbox, whistle or sing.
- There shall be NO changes to the submitted poem.
- Each poet will be judged as follows: Content (50%), Performance (40%) and Online Votes (10%).
- The judges’ decision is final.
