Catherine Street Development Community Forum - June 16, 5:30-8pm **RSVP**
Dear Community Member,

You are invited to join the Catherine Street Community Leadership Council (CLC) for the 1-year anniversary public-input and celebration of their incredible community organizing efforts related to the development of an affordable housing and community space on Catherine Street in Ann Arbor. Please read this entire message and complete the registration form at the end.

Details:

This event builds on the last Forum (held last fall) where we heard ideas and dreams from community members for the designated first-floor community space of the building. The CLC, an all-Black group of past, current, and future residents, visionaries and changemakers, with the support of our firm, FutureRoot, the Ann Arbor Housing Commission and Avalon Housing’s development team, have taken those ideas, researched them further, and have an exciting proposal to share for turning the space into a Fablab! These plans will honor the Black histories of the neighborhood and business district where the site is being developed, and they offer exciting new opportunities that welcome Black community members --and the broader community -- to return 'home' to Catherine, and its roots in Black self-determination.

What to expect:

At the event you'll see the newest design plans, learn a bit about FabLabs, and design fabrication, have a chance to help us refine these plans, and help identify community partners to align with to turn this into successful project. Please come!

We encourage you to come and to bring others who you think would care to learn about this next step in our planning process. **Please note that we are actively outreaching to Black community members and encourage you to share this event with them.**

How'd we get here?

You may have attended one or both of our first two Forums in June and/or September of last year. We are delighted to welcome you (and others) back for this third gathering.

The first event laid the foundation for understanding the important history of Catherine Street through the eyes of people who lived, worked and played there, those who still do and those who are building new futures in and around the area.

The second event deepened community awareness of the project and gathered ideas for use of the first floor and the overall building.

Logistics:

This will be an INTERACTIVE event. Dress appropriately and come prepared to engage! We'll also have folks on hand to answer your questions or address your concerns. RSVP's close on June 13th at midnight.

You should arrive at 315 Detroit St by 5:30pm. Activities will begin at the Kerrytown Farmers Market and then, weather permitting, we'll walk over to the Catherine Street parking lot, located at the corner of Catherine and Fourth, around 6:30pm. The event ends at 8pm.

Please take a moment to **scroll down** to confirm your attendance at the event. PLEASE PARK AT THE FARMER'S MARKET OR ANN/ASHLEY STRUCTURE.

We can't wait to see you,

Yodit Mesfin Johnson + Jessica A.S. Letaw
Cofounders, FutureRoot
