Dear Parents/Guardians,

JHS PAC would like to investigate the interest in starting a walking school bus project to enable students to walk or bike ride to school safely. Please fill out this short survey to give us an idea about your interest in this project.

Students will be accompanied by volunteer parents or community members. If enough families from your neighbourhood are interested, a route will be planned nearby. The route can run 1x/week or up to 5x/week. It depends on the volunteer interest. We hope to have a special drink or healthy treat waiting for the kids when they arrive to school sometimes.

We also see the potential for Grade 4's and 5's to be assistant volunteers.

Only 14% of Canadian children aged 5-11 meet the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines of 60 minutes of moderate physical activity per day.

The purpose of this survey is to identify interested students, volunteers and potential routes. With the help of Trottibus in Quebec, we have an incredible manual to work from that is very well organized.

To be able to set up the walking school bus, a committee will need to be developed as well as committed volunteers. Would you be interested in getting involved in the project?

Walking 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 mornings per week (very flexible)

Filling in for someone when required

Getting involved in the organizing committee (positions are very well planned and organized)

Helping promote it in the school and community
