TAKE ACTION: Accountability for Public Allies Layoffs and Closures
Sign off on our letter to the Public Allies National Board:

We are organizing the Public Allies Community (allies, alumni, staff, partner organizations, donors, supporters) to send a message to Public Allies National Board, AmeriCorps National, and the public that:

1. The abrupt layoffs and closures do not reflect Public Allies values and perpetuate harm toward BIPOC staff and communities Public Allies aims to serve and uplift
2.  Staff, Allies, alumni and community members deserve to know WHY and HOW these decisions were made. Staff and Allies deserve JUSTICE
3. Public Allies CEO, Jamie Ernesto Uteza, and board chair, Kanwar Singh, must resign for the harm he has caused
4. Public Allies Alumni need decision making power in search for a new leader and organizational board governance

CONTEXT: On July 7th, 2022, current Public Allies across the country were sent a vague video about organizational restructuring. Press release here: https://publicallies.org/press-release-july-7-2022/
Since then, staff all over the country have been locked out of their emails and have been contacted by consultants to learn that they are being laid off and/or their Public Allies site has been closed effective immediately. Nearly all of the Public Allies National Office has been laid off as well. Staff and allies were blindsided
