Thank you for your interest in our company! We look forward to discussing with you your landscape needs and dreams. We appreciate your taking the time to answer the following questions. To get a fast response, please email or call us to verify that we got your form at
or 530-400-7032 as google forms has occasional glitches! We tend to select projects with themes of ecology / water savings / and food production over traditional lawn and shrub landscapes. We do not use Round-up or other chemical herbicides/pesticides in our landscapes and prefer not to expose our team to such chemicals so please be mindful of this. Also, WE OFTEN ARE BOOKED OUT FOR MANY MONTHS so please be patient if you want an artisan level landscape with an ecological focus! Thanks!
How did you hear about us?
If you saw a landscape we installed, please describe where that was in "other" section below; and please describe what aspects you liked about it.
Davis Food Coop Landscape
Referral Company (Houzz, Home Advisor, etc.)
Are you the property owner?
Is this your primary residence?
Yes I live there.
No, I lease it to renters.
Which part of your yard do you want to re-landscaped? (please check all that apply)
Please describe any demo work needed.
Before installing a project, we need to identify anything that needs to be removed from site and do that first. Examples include removal of old concrete or other hardscape, removal of invasive trees and weeds, lawn removal, etc. If you're not sure, that's okay! Please say so.
Are there any on-site constraints that we should address through our design?
We can turn a lot of these constraints into opportunities. (For example, drainage issues can become opportunities to deep water other parts of the landscape via natural drainage techniques, grading, and drain lines)
Drainage issues / Flooding
Need for Privacy Screen
Need Shade from Hot Afternoon Sun
Dogs use the yard
Children play in the yard
Unsightly views you want to block (ex/AC system)
Hot South and West Facing
Any buried Pets in Yard?
Are there any on-site opportunities you already notice that you would like us to highlight through our design?
Pleasing views from within building or adjacent to property
Unique Focal Points
Areas where water can be retained beneficially
Are you interested in any of the following?
We can go over any landscape features at length later on.
Natural Drainage (seasonal creek, rain garden, swales)
Raised Beds for vegetables, fruit, and culinary herbs
Fruit Trees and other edible landscaping
Drought tolerant and/or California Native plants
Greywater System (Laundry to Landscape; Shower/Sink to Landscape)
Rainwater Catchment System (Cisterns/Slim-line/other tanks)
Retaining Walls (stone, wood, rocks/boulders)
Flagstone or other Hardscaping
Please summarize your landscape vision and priorities.
What is your budget?
We cater our design to your budget range through careful selection of materials, inclusion of design elements desired, and the size of various landscape features. Knowing your priorities and budget range will help us design a landscape that provides you the best value possible. Please note, most of our landscape renovations (design phase plus installation) fall in the $20-50k range. Relevant cost factors include relative size of landscape, types of landscape elements wanted (hardscaping, structures, etc), types of materials wanted (for example, higher cost flagstone vs. lower cost flagstone), complexity of renovation, and travel time to and from Davis. We normally start off with a design contract in the $1-3k range (usually less than 10% of the total project cost), and we provide feedback throughout the design phase on general costs as a general layout takes shape. We conclude the design phase with a phased installation cost proposal, with opportunity to adjust things if necessary. For smaller or simpler projects not requiring a design phase or master plan, please suggest a budget in the "other" column and we will contact you to discuss further what can be accomplished. Knowing the budget from the start really helps guide the design process and allows us to design within your parameters and goals.
