Ridgewood Crew Learn-to-Row Registration Form - Summer/Fall 2025
Who:  Ridgewood school students in 7th-12th grade in Fall 2025 who are interested in rowing are invited to attend one of our Learn-to-Row (LTR) sessions this summer/fall following successful completion of a swim test. This is a beginner opportunity to try out the sport of rowing and learn what the team is all about!

When: The following sessions are still available with a 30 minute mid-session break: 

   6:Sep 6-7:       Sat/Sun noon - 4:30pm
   7.Sep 13-14:  Sat/Sun noon - 4:30pm

Important Requirements:
  • Swim test must be passed, and form submitted, before participating
  • Sessions are strictly limited to 8 athletes each.
  • Athletes must attend all days and all scheduled hours in the selected session

Any rower who has completed a summer LTR session can choose to continue practicing with us this summer in the 6-session ($200) Novice program, three days a week beginning July 22 through Aug 1 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 5 - 7:30pm.

Any rower who has completed any LTR session can choose to continue practicing with us this fall. Details will be provided in early August, but Middle School athletes (Development Team) are generally weekends during September and October. High School athletes generally practice weekdays and weekends during September and October.

Swim Test Date (required prior to LTR).  All potential rowers must pass a swim test and submit the swim test form to communications@ridgewoodcrew.com. The swim test form can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/RCswimtest. This swim test can be administered by any certified lifeguard; however,  We have a couple options to take it at the Ridgewood YMCA that you can select from below. More information will be sent on how to register separately if a Ridgewood YMCA date is selected.

If you need another option, we have lifeguards that can administer the test in a private pool or we can assist with setting up.

I, the parent/guardian of the above-named child, hereby give my full consent and approval to his/her registration and participation in Ridgewood Crew for the 2025 calendar year. I understand that there are certain risks of injury inherent in the practice and races of crew, as well as transporting my child to or from any of the regattas or crew-related events, and I am willing to assume all risks and hazards incidental to the conduct of such activities. *
I hereby confirm that my child is fully capable of participating in the sport of crew and that my child is in sound medical condition and has no physical or mental disabilities or conditions that would restrict full participation, except as noted below (Please include all known Physical Disabilities, Medical Conditions and/or Allergies. Write "None" to confirm) *
In the event of my absence, if my son/daughter is suffering from an injury or condition requiring diagnosis and immediate medical or surgical treatment, I do hereby voluntarily authorize Ridgewood Crew coaches, Board members, and/or parent volunteers at the scene to consent to such diagnostic procedures, medical/hospital care, medication administration, and to such medical, surgical, or x-ray treatment as may be deemed necessary by and under the direct authorization of a licensed physician/practitioner. *
In addition, I hereby release, absolve, and discharge Ridgewood Crew and its officers, directors, coaches, sponsors, supervisors, representatives, and any person transporting my child to and from any of the activities from any claim or liability in case of an accident, injury and/or medical and dental expenses incurred to my child. *
Terms and Conditions: 1. A one-time swim test certification is required for all Learn-To-Row students/first-time rowers and can be completed at a YMCA or by a certified lifeguard.  2. Receipt of full payment is required for participation confirmation.  3. NO REFUND, NO prorating of fees, NO switching of sessions and NO credits will be provided for athletes who drop out of the program. If you miss a session, a make-up practice is allowed once, subject to prior arrangement with the coach(es). 4. I give my full consent for my child to row in a multi-person boat and absolve Ridgewood Crew from any liability. 5. Athletes choosing to participate on the Ridgewood High School Crew Team have mandatory practices in the spring season, including Spring Break. *

I hereby consent to the use of photographs/video taken during the course of the Ridgewood Crew program for publicity, promotional and/or educational purposes (including publications, presentation or broadcast via newspaper, internet, website or other media sources). I do this with full knowledge and consent and waive all claims for compensation for use, or for damages.   *
To facilitate carpools to BCRC, would you like the parent/guardian contact information (name, email,  phone number) shared with the other seven families in your scheduled LTR session?  *
Payment - The payment amount of $300 for LTR (or $500 if registering for Novice also) is preferred upon registration. The preferred method is ZELLE with payments made to finance@ridgewoodcrew.com. Other payment methods are available:  Venmo @ridgewoodcrew or check payable to Ridgewood Crew (mailed to 259 Sollas Court , Ridgewood, NJ 07451). Enter the Zelle confirmation code (10 digits), Venmo transaction ID (19 digits), or check number for your payment.  Payments are required by June 14th and we will send reminders out if you haven't paid yet.
