Speaker Sarah Leony: Electrical Engineer at Oceanit
As an Electrical Engineer, Leony has contributed to the development of multiple Department of Defense projects. She is the lead SDR developer responsible for programming the hardware and software for airborne and underwater networks. In addition to her work with RF, Leony is very passionate about promoting STEM throughout the local community and has participated in many outreach programs such as Girl Scout’s STEM Fest and the EMERGE Conference.

Leony is a Hawaii transplant from the Houston, Texas area where she was working as a field instrumentation engineer for Exxomobil. Her background stems mainly from the energy sector as she has worked for Shell as an offshore support engineer/R&D engineer and for Chevron Phillips as a design engineer. She also developed a battery recharge system and contributed to many of the Pathfinder Lander’s tasks while she interned in the Swamp Works Lab at NASA.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with special distinction.
