My Organization Supports A Michigan Green Amendment

Since 2022, community organizers in Michigan have been working to advance the importance and values of having a Michigan Green Amendment that will give constitutional recognition and protection to the rights of all our people to a clean, safe and healthy environment.

On April 22, 2026, Michigan State Representative Donovan McKinney and State Senator Sue Shink announced the proposal for a Michigan Green Amendment: a self-executing provision added to the bill of rights section of the state constitution that recognizes and protects the rights of all Michiganders to clean water, air, and soils; balanced ecosystems; a stable climate; and to the preservation of the natural, cultural, recreational, and healthful qualities of the environment.

Now is the time to educate people, organizations, and communities about the values of having a constitutional amendment that will recognize and protect our inalienable, human rights to a clean, safe and healthy environment; that will ensure these rights are protected equitably for all communities; and that will ensure an enforceable obligation of all government officials to protect our state’s natural resources for both present and future generations.

If your organization would like to join in, we invite you to sign on and become part of our Michigan Green Amendment movement. Together, we can spread the word about the importance of having constitutional protection for our environmental rights.

All organizations who sign on will be added to the coalition’s active website at www.MIGreenAmendment.org.

Sign ons will be added as a member of the Michigan Green Amendment Coalition and our  Green Amendment For The Generations member rolls.  We will keep you up to date on all the happenings in Michigan, as well as information on what is happening in other states pursuing this same powerful constitutional protection.

We look forward to working together to advance initiatives and educational opportunities supporting constitutional Green Amendment protections for Michigan.
