2020 RILA-ILART Lesson Swap Proposal
Rhode Island Library Association's Information Literacy Action Round Table invites YOU to submit a proposal to present at ILART's annual Lesson Swap!
We’re not in Kansas anymore! The Rhode Island Library Association’s Information Literacy Action Round Table is hosting a lesson swap on Tuesday, April 7, 4 - 6 pm at William Hall Library, Cranston, RI. We are looking for library staff who would like to share successful lessons -OR- lessons that could be perfect with some feedback. This year's theme is "Teaching Evaluation: Good, Bad, or Not a Witch at All." Show us your favorite evaluation tools, tips, and techniques and how you’ve used them in a recent class, used them to help patrons in your library, or other connections to information literacy. How do you teach your community to evaluate sources – from web sites to videos to different types of articles? How do you help researchers distinguish between different source types? How does your community understand algorithms, AI, and other outside influences that may affect their research? Do you include themes of critical librarianship or information privilege? Share your best ideas with us!
We are looking for lessons from all levels and library types, from school to university to public. The Lesson Swap is an opportunity to connect librarians across library types to share pedagogy and exchange effective lessons, materials, and ideas.
Lesson swap presenters should come prepared to teach a 15-20 minute sample lesson to colleagues as if presenting to the lesson’s target audience. A 10 minute Q&A session will follow each lesson to provide an opportunity for questions and feedback. A laptop with screen will be provided. Please bring hard copies of any handouts (we’ll let you know how many you’ll need before the event).
To submit a proposal to present a lesson, please fill out the form below by March 13. We'll be in touch with presenters by March 20.
