Choir Audition Announcement
The Tridentine Mass Society of Madison (TMSM) is pleased to announce auditions in all vocal sections for a professional eight-voice Choir (SATB, two voices per section) to sing Gregorian Chant and sacred choral music—particularly of the late Renaissance—for twelve Sunday Sung Masses in 2023–2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Pine Bluff (SMPB), 3673 County Trunk Highway P, Cross Plains, Wisconsin. [map]

Compensation
  • $80 per Monday-evening rehearsal; $80 per Sunday Mass (including pre-Mass preparation)
  • All music notation and related materials provided (to be kept by singers)
Schedule of Monday Rehearsals (7:00–9:00 PM) and Sunday Masses (7:15–9:15 AM*)

All rehearsals and Masses will take place at SMPB.

*7:15 AM call time for 8:00 AM Mass. End time is approximate.

Auditions
In-person auditions will be held until all eight positions are filled. The audition will take no more than 30 minutes and will consist of:
  • A short interview
  • A vocal-range check
  • Sight-reading melodies in standard notation and Gregorian-chant notation
  • Sight-reading a brief excerpt of two-voice counterpoint with a member of the TMSM Choir Audition Committee
