Oakland Promise Ambassador Program

The Oakland Promise is a cradle-to-career initiative that aims to triple the number of college graduates from Oakland within the next decade. You can learn more about our initiative from our website www.oaklandpromise.org and through the video below. We need help from community members like you to ensure every child in Oakland graduates high school with the expectations, resources, and skills to complete college and be successful in the career of his or her choice.

The Oakland Promise Ambassador Program develops community leaders who represent and actively advocate for the Oakland Promise, Oakland’s first cradle to career education initiative. Ambassadors will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to engage others around each of the 4 key initiatives of the Oakland Promise.

Ambassadors will be expected to think critically about why they are passionate about education and community engagement. Through personal experiences, Ambassadors will share with stakeholders the potential the Oakland Promise has to transform our city. Ambassadors may be asked to volunteer at events, attend speaking engagements, and become a mentor for the East Bay College Fund, among other things. Ambassadors will represent Oakland students, schools, families, and communities from every corner of our city.

To become an Oakland Promise Ambassador, applicants must:
-Believe in the Oakland Promise
-Be a current or past resident of Oakland
-Demonstrate strong initiative, leadership, and communication skills
-Submit a completed application by the deadline
-Attend all Ambassadors meetings
-Attend an annual meeting in the Mayor’s Office
