The DOC now has at least 6 outbreaks of Covid-19!! During each outbreak, the DOC failed to follow health protocols to ensure the safety of our loved ones. The most recent outbreak was at Bishop Lewis Work Release where:
--The DOC failed to implement Covid-19 infection management strategies when the first person was found positive for Covid-19.
--The DOC forced asymptomatic and symptomatic residents to congregate in shared spaces and use the same facilities without those spaces being disinfected.
--Although the first symptomatic resident for Covid-19 was identified on Oct. 12, the DOC did not test all residents until Oct. 20.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
Read our letter and DEMANDS to Governor Inslee regarding negligent actions and the mishandling of a Covid-19 outbreak in the Bishop Lewis Work Release facility. We demand the immediate release of our loved ones, families and communities in the Bishop Lewis Work Release Facility. These demands also include an abolitionist plan of action to care for these residents after release.
