The summer course will run for 4 weeks, every day starting on Monday, July 3, 2017, from 9 am - 2 pm and end Friday, July 28, 2017. Students will need to bring lunch as it will not be provided.
Students will be instructed in the following areas:
Lean Startup provides a scientific approach to creating and managing startups to get a desired product or service to customers' hands faster.
Google Design Sprints are aimed at solving large problems and testing ideas in 5 days or less. Using the same principles that would be used with Fortune 500 companies, students will work collectively on an international problem, explore multiple ways of solving that problem, create a prototype, and finally test the experience.
Mondays: Instructional Learning - Students will receive knowledge on various topics including theory, civics, mental math, expressive writing and networking.
Tuesdays: Internship - Students will solve problems that real businesses need help on
Wednesdays: Computer Science - Students will learn coding including, HTML, Java & Python
Thursdays: Build Day - Students will work on building their projects and completing
Fridays: Field Trip - Students will explore Milwaukee attractions including, the new Bucks Arena, Cardinal Stritch and The Art Museum
Because of our limited capacity, we will choose students according to the following metrics:
1st Priority: Students who were on a winning team during one our STEAM workshops2nd Priority: Students who attended our STEAM workshops3rd Priority: Lottery of remaining students.
