Petition to remove Chief Evans as Chief of BCPD
In March of 2019 YDS of BC first published an article on collaboration between ICE and Boston Police under now BCPD Chief Evans. In October of 2019 we officially called on Evans to resign or be removed as Chief of BCPD. In February we released a series of articles detailing racist policing enacted by the Boston Police when Chief Evans headed the department. This including falsely flagging Black and Latino young men as gang members, maintaining racist stop and frisk policies which disproportionately targeted Black residents of Boston, and collaborating with ICE to deport undocumented immigrants in violation of Boston’s sanctuary city status. On June 2nd officers from Boston College were working alongside BPD to police protesters in Franklin Park. This is outrageous and totally unacceptable. We reiterate our call for Evans to be removed from his position as head of BCPD and Director of Public Safety. Members of the BC community cannot condemn police brutality and a racist criminal justice system in relation to national events and ignore the fact that a man involved in upholding that same system is employed by our university.

A sample phone/email script and list of BC administrators to contact can be found here. Please email and call their offices and let them know sending BCPD to Franklin Park was outrageous and Chief Evans needs to be removed from his position at BC.
