City Farmer 2023 Application
Are you interested in helping to run our volunteer-driven urban farm?  Common Good City Farm is an urban farm and education center growing food with and for the community and providing educational opportunities for all people that help increase food security, improve health, and contribute to environmental sustainability.  CGCF’s City Farmers program is an opportunity to take your involvement with our farm to the next level. As a City Farmer, you will provide crucial help to our Farm Manager, completing essential farm tasks with increasing autonomy, and leading drop-in volunteers and volunteer groups in the work of the day.  

As a City Farmer, you will get:
- Hands-on experience working on an innovative urban farm in the heart of DC
- The opportunity to join a community of diverse, highly motivated people who are passionate about urban agriculture

We are looking for people:
- Who can commit to one 3 hour slot each week for at least 12 weeks
- Who have experience in sustainable agriculture or a willingness to learn
- Who have a friendly, outgoing demeanor
- Who want to work outside in all weather conditions

Available Sessions:
1) Tuesdays 4 - 7 pm, start date TBD
2) Wednesday 8 - 11 am, start date TBD in May
3) Wednesday 10 am - 1 pm, start date TBD in May 
4) Wednesday 4 - 7 pm, start date TBD in May 
5) Sunday 9 am - 12 pm, starting March 26

People who apply for the Sunday City Farmers session will receive an email on Friday, March 10 if they have been accepted or waitlisted for the Sunday City Farmers session. If you are waitlisted, we will email you as additional spots open up and/ or prior to the next orientation on Sunday, June 25 and September 24. 

The Sunday sessions will have orientation sessions on the following dates. Attending the orientation is mandatory in order to participate in the Sunday sessions. 
1. Sunday, March 26, 9 am - 12 pm
2. Sunday, June 25, 9 am - 12 pm
3. Sunday, September 24, 9 am - 12 pm

ADDITIONAL NOTE:

There are over 130 current applicants to City Farmers for this year, and we have about 30 volunteer slots at any given time. We are so grateful for your interest and enthusiasm! And, please do not call and email repeatedly about your volunteer application, or submit your application more than once. It's growing season, and we're out in the field! We will reach out as soon as there are more opportunities to volunteer.
