Lord Mayor's Show 1621 Reconstructed
Event Timing: 29th October, 2021
Event Address: Cheapside, London
On Friday 29th October we'll be recreating elements from the 1621 Lord Mayor's Show at Cheapside, as part of a day of fun experiences. From walking tours, to a dress up procession, to the recreations itself, we hope to present elements of The Sun in Aries by Thomas Middleton from 1621 in the open air and free to all. And we'd like your help!
As part of the event, we'd like the audience and more committed fans of London to dress up and celebrate the imagery of the pageants. We're not looking for absolute historical accuracy, just to have a crowd that looks amazing and want to have fun. There'll even be a prize for the best costume in the crowd!
If you'd like to come along, get dressed up, or just be kept up to speed, give us a buzz with the form below.
NB: Though an outdoor event, we will be following all COVID restrictions carefully, and ask that people respect the law (obviously) and the precautions the event will put in place.
DEADLINE for EARLY BIRD SIGN UP - Saturday 26th June 2021
How would you like to be involved?
I'd like to be kept informed about the show via email
I'd like to attend the event as a casual member of the audience (no dress up, sorry)
I'd like to attend the event as a costumed figure!
I'd like to be involved across the day and maybe have a more specific role.
I'd like to offer some other support, which I'll detail below.
I'd like to attend a walking tour of the Lord Mayor's Show with Prof. Tracey Hill (limited numbers!)
I'd like to help spread the word online.
Details about how you'd like to be involved, if it's more complicated than a tick box will allow...
The Recon will be performed three times on Friday 29th October - which time are you likely to want to attend? (If you can)
12.00 to 12.30pm (provisional)
1.45 to 2.15pm (provisional)
2.45 to 3.15pm (provisional)
ALL THREE - I'd like to be involved/watch the shows again and again!
I'd be interested in coming up with a costume of any of the below figures from the time/pageant. (Costumes don't have to be perfect, it's just for fun!)
A representative of the 12 Great Livery Companies
One of the 12 Signs of the Zodiac
As a famous figure from History
As one of the Virtues
Whiffler (crowd control)
Anything - surprise me!
