Nanovic Film Series — "Women at Work in European Cinema"
For the spring 2022 semester, the Nanovic Institute film series investigates “Women at Work in European Cinema” curated by Nanovic Faculty Fellow Emeritus Donald Crafton (Film, Television, and Theatre). Stories about women at work have been subjects of European cinema since the beginning of the movies. But over the past two decades, women have increasingly been appearing behind the camera, as well as in front of it. Female writers, crew, and producers enjoy much more representation in Europe than in Hollywood, with its infamous glass ceiling. Many of this series’ screenings are the work of women, but all explore various aspects of women at work. All films are screened at the Browning Cinema, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. Films are free to attend, though tickets are required.
