SeaChanges Expression of Interest form
Pleas use the form below to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) in the PhD studentships available via the SeaChanges network, in advance of the launch of the formal application procedure (planned for March 2019). Expressions of Interest will be used to help gauge interest across the network and to guide potential applicants towards the ESR projects for which they are eligible and best suited. Please note that this stage is not compulsory: formal applications received without a preceding EoI will also be considered, in accordance with the regulations at each host institution. Likewise, submitting an EoI via this form does not represent a commitment on your part to complete a formal application at a later stage.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday March 8th 2019.

Eligibility
SeaChanges is open to applicants of any nationality, and currently resident in any country in the world, subject to the eligibility criteria detailed below. Please check that you are eligible before continuing.

1. Early-stage researchers (ESR) are those who are, at the time of recruitment* by the host, in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers. This is measured from the date when they obtained the degree which formally entitles them to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate was envisaged.

2. Researchers are required to undertake trans-national mobility (i.e., move from one country to another) when taking up the appointment. Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date*. Compulsory national service and short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
Note: the mobility rule is somewhat relaxed for applicants with Refugee status. Contact us for more details if this applies to you.

*reckoned as the first day of employment, currently expected to be October 1st 2019 for most projects and November 1st 2019 for ESR 12 (Bologna).

Nb. individual host institutions may have additional eligibility criteria for PhD study, particularly regarding nature and grade of previous degrees.

I have read and understood the eligibility criteria detailed above. I believe that I am eligible to participate in the network as an Early Stage Researcher (rule 1, above). I will observe the mobility rule (rule 2) when selecting my preferred projects. *
In which countries have you resided for more than 12 months during the last 3 years? Do not count short visits such as holidays towards totals. *
