2018-19 Ohio FCCLA Service Learning Hours Tracking Portal
Service Learning Portal: Acceptable Hours Guidance
What activities count towards service learning hours?

Service learning can be completed through an organization. Projects that are completed through youth organizations such as (Boy Scouts, FCCLA, FFA, and some other high school groups, etc) count towards hours. Hours completed independently are also acceptable hours.

Service hours completed as the service part of a Career Development Event. However, the completion of the presentation and portfolio does not count.

What activities DO NOT count towards service learning hours?

School service does not equal service learning. Service Learning is performed as a service EXTERNAL to the school. If you voluntarily join a school organization such as (drama productions, pep band, athletic team, etc.), you may NOT claim those hours as service learning.
In addition, working within your church, synagogue, mosque, etc., will NOT satisfy the service requirement UNLESS you are doing some type of outreach within the community (benefit concert, car wash for charity, Vacation Bible Schools, etc.).

Hours completed when working towards the completion of a project such as 4-H or FCCLA Career Development Event, do not count as service.
