Better Together: Striving for Inclusive and Connected Advising in a Transforming Landscape
Friday, May 21, 2021 | 9:00am - 4:00pm

Over the past year, the advising landscape has transformed due to the ongoing pandemic. At the same time, the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has culminated to a critical tipping point. This conference aims to address issues of DEI in the context of the ever-changing advising environment. We will explore best practices, innovative solutions, and new outlooks in our profession all for the betterment of our students. Proposals are encouraged, but are not limited, to include at least one of the following topics:
-How did you keep DEI in the forefront of your advising practices as the pandemic transformed (and continues to transform) the advising landscape?
-How did you continuously improve advising services to students as the pandemic transformed the landscape while keeping DEI in mind?
-What were some best advising practices or innovative services that your institution tried to keep, but adapted to the virtual landscape?
-How did you overcome challenges of accessibility, connectivity and outreach to all populations while adapting your practices for the safety of everyone?

Proposals most closely aligned with these topics will be given preference. Plan for a 50-minute session. Presenters must register for the conference and be a current MIACADA member.

Submissions will need to provide:

-Presentation title
-250-word Session Abstract/Narrative (include details on session format)
