NASW-PA Standard for the Display of Professional Credentials: NASW-PA utilizes a standard method of display for professional credentials to ensure consistency across our publications. NASW-PA reserves the right to edit credentials.
1. No Periods: Credentials should be written without periods. For example, use "PhD" instead of "Ph.D."
2. Highest Credential Only: If a degree is required for licensure, only the highest credential should be listed. For instance, if you have an MSW and an LCSW, list only "LCSW" because the MSW is a prerequisite for the LCSW. However, if you have a PhD and an LCSW, you would list “PhD, LCSW”
3. Order of Credentials: Credentials should be listed in the following order: highest degree (e.g., PhD, MSW) and/or licensure (e.g., LCSW), national certifications (e.g., ACSW), and other relevant certifications.
