Delaware County is divided into zones. Each zone has permitted uses and regulations for development. When a new use may conflict with other permitted uses in a zone, zoning can be used to protect the existing uses by establishing development standards for the potentially conflicting use. Special Uses require approval by the Board of Zoning Appeals (a public meeting requiring notification of surrounding property owners).
