Scope of Practice

Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. Certified Massage Therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. I may refer you to a medical doctor for diagnosis or treatment. My services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment.

Existing and new medical conditions

It is the client's responsibility to keep me informed of any medical treatment currently being taken and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., so that the massage can be continued, as well as any changes in health conditions.

* For chemotherapy and radiotherapy clients - if you are currently undergoing treatment, or if your last treatment session was less than 12 months ago, I require a medical certificate stating that the physician is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.

Respect for client needs and boundaries

Thai massage is an intimate art that requires close contact between client and practitioner, and may include work on the buttocks, abdomen, chest, feet, face and scalp. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, for any reason, please inform me immediately to change the routine or discontinue the massage if you prefer.

I’m happy to adjust the pressure, temperature, music volume, work more on one area of the body or move on to another if you request it.

Confidentiality and Conversation

I treat all client visits and conditions as confidential. As such, I will not discuss your visit with anybody without your express permission. You may choose to talk or not talk during the massage. Conversation will be guided by you.
