ARTS Application

What is the ARTS Program?

Established in 2022, the BCA Artistic Residents Talent Share (ARTS) Program aims to cultivate community connections by collaborating with local professional and amateur artists of diverse mediums and backgrounds to share their creative talents with fellow residents. It hopes to enrich community building and enhance the community's cultural identity by providing a safe and inclusive place for residents to creatively come and learn together while opening opportunities for local artists to flourish through sharing, connection, and collaboration.

The ARTS Program endeavours to accomplish its vision through four main objectives:

  1. Promote community building through art.

  2. Provide residents a free opportunity to experience art and learn new skills within their community in a safe and inclusive environment.

  3. Collaborate with and support local professional and amateur artists to share their artistic talents through workshops, community projects, and installations at the BCA.

  4. Activate and enhance various spaces at the BCA in ways that highlight local art and creatively engage residents.

How is the program structured?

Each artist or artist group/collective will be responsible for designing and leading, in collaboration with and support from the Program Coordinator:

  • One community project

  • Three consecutive 2-hour workshops on Saturdays from 2-4 pm at the BCA.

Artists will also attend a Wrap-Up Showcase & Celebration in the Fall of 2024. This is an event held at the BCA where all featured artists in the 2024 ARTS Program can network with those who’ve gone through it, with the current featured artists having one final opportunity to showcase their work and engage with the community and relevant community partners. Date, time and location TBD.

What will selected applicants receive for participation in the ARTS Program?

Each artist selected will receive $2000 towards their community project and workshops. This amount is intended to cover artist fee(s) for any and all artists involved and to cover the project and workshop material costs. The artist will keep this in mind when creating the budget for the project.

Artists will also receive support from the Program Coordinator, available to them from the point of putting an application together through application submission and feature with the BCA, if selected. This includes organizing childminding, volunteers and snacks/refreshments.
