Thank you for applying to the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic! We are a free clinic, operated under the leadership of University of Minnesota students. The mission of the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic (PNC) is three-fold:

•We will develop compassionate, culturally competent future health professionals in an interprofessional, team-based learning environment
•We will support community partnerships and promote overall health and wellbeing in the communities we serve
•We will increase the accessibility of comprehensive, patient-centered, quality health services to patients with unmet needs

This application is now due: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH at 11:59 pm. 

The PNC provides an array of services including medical care, nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmaceutical care, dispensing pharmacy services, mental health, audiology, dental, nutrition, and public health services in order to decrease fragmentation of services and referral needs. Finally, the PNC provides a safe, therapeutic environment for our clients with respect for their diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

The PNC also provides a unique and safe environment for allied health professional students and undergraduates to volunteer, learn, and assess the needs of patients in the community. The opportunity for students to work with a vulnerable and underserved population in conjunction with other students from a variety of disciplines has proven to be an irreplaceable experience for PNC volunteers. Volunteering at the PNC not only increases a volunteer’s understanding of the roles each discipline has in health care, but it also helps students learn how to effectively work in an interprofessional environment.



This application consists of two parts.

1) Form
This form asks a few simple questions about you and your interest in the PNC. It also contains information about the PNC, the application process, positions available, and volunteer expectations. It is important to review and know this information. Please direct any further questions you may have to Emily Waldo at PNCHumanResources@gmail.com or at waldo202@umn.edu. The deadline for filling out this application is **Sunday, September 27th**

2) Interview
At the end of this form, you will be asked to SIGN UP for an interview in a separate Google Sheet. The interview is a mandatory part of the volunteer application and will take place over Zoom during the days and early evenings of September 28th through October 2nd. Each interview is scheduled for 30 minutes. Please e-mail Emily at PNCHumanResources@gmail.com if you are unable to find an available interview time slot for your schedule, and we can work with you to make sure that you have an interview time. Volunteers who are interested in Spanish interpreting additionally may be asked to take a simple spoken language evaluation during their interview.

Applicants will be informed of their status by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 7th.

Those accepted will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on the evening of Wednesday, October 14th (6:00 - 8:30 PM) OR the evening of Thursday, October 15th (6:00 - 8:30 PM). They will also be required to attend a Mock Clinic Session on the evening of October 20th (5:30 - 8:30 PM) OR the evening of October 21st (5:30 - 8:30 PM). Please keep all of these dates available in your schedule in case there is a conflict that arises. (To facilitate scheduling, you will submit session preferences at a separate link at the end of this application.)
