Links Hall 40th Anniversary Linkage Application
Dear Chicago Self-Producing Performing Artists and Collaboratives Making New Work,

You are invited to apply to be part of Links Hall's 40th Anniversary season!

Links Hall has made it this far because of the creative willpower of the Chicago performing arts community. It’s what kept the old Links Hall studio on Sheffield and Newport going for 35 years and what’s been filling the studios in our shared Constellation | Links Hall home to bursting for the past five.

To celebrate, give thanks, and pay-the-40th-forward, Links is suspending all Linkage performance rental costs for the 2018-2019 season in Studio A (the white box).

If, like Links Hall’s mission, you equally value artistic innovation AND public engagement, are creating a new work that needs a performance home, and want to be part of the Links community – please APPLY to be a Linkage Partner!

2018-2019 season Linkage Partners will be selected by Links Hall staff and Programming Committee who are dedicated to making the intentional choices to ensure the 40th Anniversary Season showcases the City of Chicago's rich and vibrant performing arts communities and artists of all races, colors, religions, sexes, sexual orientations, national origins, ages, abilities and genetics.

Links Hall is currently accepting proposals for January - February 2019.

Chosen applicants should expect to hear whether their proposal is successful within 3 weeks of their submission.

Proposals will be reviewed until all performance slots are filled. Links will regularly update this application, website, and Links FB page to reflect what month options remain.

Note: performance slots between March to June 2019 proposals will become available when the rest of Links Hall's fundraising goals have been achieved. Linkage performance rental costs will go back into effect at the conclusion of the 40th Anniversary season.

What is a Linkage?

Links Hall dedicates 30+ weeks to co-presentations of new works by self-producing performing artists called Linkages.

- One-nighter Linkages are Wednesday nights at 7:30pm of a single program that techs and performs on the same day
- Weekend-er Linkages are Friday-Sunday nights at 7pm of three performances of the same program with tech beginning on Thursdays.

Solo work, group or collective or ensemble work, and shared bill (several solo or group artists' works on the same program) that align with Links Hall’s mission are ALL eligible.

Artists who select the "shared bill" option may be paired with another applicant.

All new work in performing and interdisciplinary art forms are welcome (in alphabetical order): dance, experimental theater, interdisciplinary, movement, multi-disciplinary, object theater, performance art, physical theater, puppetry, social practice, and That Which Can’t Be Defined But is Live Art -- EXCEPT music or film/video projection on its own or as the primary art form.

Linkage partners receive space, technician and marketing support and the majority (75%-90%) of all ticket sales. This includes: studio time for tech and performances, a Links Hall Lighting Designer / Production Stage Manager (LD/PSM) to design the lighting and run your light and sound cues during tech rehearsals and performances, a House Manager at your performances, online and day of box office, Links website banner, calendar/season releases, and inclusion in Links e-blasts and social media. Please note: Links Hall’s promotion support augments but does not, and cannot, replace each artist's own audience development efforts.

Constellation | Links Hall at 3111 North Western Avenue in Studio A (the white box).
