National BrainBee (NBB) 2026 - Austria 

Welcome to the first edition of the Austrian National Brain Bee (NBB). This competition invites students aged 14–19 to test their neuroscience knowledge and compete for a place at the International Brain Bee Championship.

The test will open on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10:00. It consists of 40–45 timed multiple choice questions (approximately 1 minute per question). Access details will be sent to registered participants by June 22.

To prepare, visit brainfacts.org, and try our sample test at socrative.com (Room: ANABB26TIMED).

The national winner qualifies for the International Brain Bee Championship (November 7–12, 2026).

Please note that if you are under the age of 16, your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must consent to your participation in the competition. Please upload the consent form below. It can be either handwritten or printed (in English or German). Please send it to: sigismund.huck@gmail.com by June 22.

Information on data collection and processing

Purpose of data processing: Your data is processed solely for the purpose of administering the Austrian Brain Bee Competition, including participant registration, eligibility verification, and access to competition materials.

Data protection: Data is processed internally solely by the Austrian Neuroscience Association (ANA) members involved in organizing the competition and will not be shared with third parties. Responses are stored in Google Forms and accessible only to the ANA BrainBee committee. Participant names will be shared with Socrative (socrative.com) solely for the purpose of administering the competition quiz.

Consent: Personal data is processed on the basis of your voluntary consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. For participants under 16, consent must be provided by a parent or legal guardian (Art. 8 GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR) by contacting us at: maciej.kania@ist.ac.at 

Storage duration: All data will be anonymized or deleted within a year of the competition's conclusion, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.

Your rights: You have the right to request from the controller access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data, restriction of processing concerning you, or to object to processing, as well as the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Datenschutzbehörde, dsb.gv.at).
