The International Allies Program is designed to provide support, community, and resources for international graduate students to help them adapt to life in the US and at UChicago. As a part of this peer-to-peer mentoring program, students in their second year and beyond will serve as mentors to first or second year students. This mentorship may entail sharing various life, academic and administration-related experiences, among other things. Each mentor-mentee pair will be required to meet at least twice per quarter. A $100 stipend will be provided to each pair per quarter ($50/person) to enable outings such as going for brunch or coffee, visiting a museum, or other activities.

Based on your responses, we will match mentors and mentees accordingly within three weeks. Those participants who establish matches at the IGSAB Open Day (
October 27, 4-6 pm) are welcome to email us (uchicagoigsab@gmail.com) to let us know! The program will officially start on January 11, 2023, with a kickoff mixer for all participants.
Please note that we cannot guarantee all participants to be matched. You are more likely to get a match if you provide as much detail as possible. If we cannot offer you a spot in this program, we hope you will still join us at other IGSAB events through the year.
