Thank you for contacting us about opportunities to become an Indiana University Baseball Student Manager. Student Managers are a tremendous asset to our program and we value their work and input on a wide variety of aspects. As a student manager, you could be tasked with various on field duties, data logging, tracking, videography, and general program operations. Student Managers spend lots of time on-field, helping out with daily practices through assisting coaches with drills, feeding pitching machines, and setting up any equipment needed for practice. You will also be exposed to a wide array of analytical tools such as Trackman, Edgertronic, HitTrax, and Synergy in order to collect data used by coaches & players to improve and develop. On-field help, data collection, and general program operations can all assist our program in the ultimate goal of winning baseball games, and help to increase your skillset for future opportunities as well. Below are the classifications of managers in order to help us better understand what fits best for you and what you see as your best asset to the program:
-On-Field: Assists with duties such as practice setup, feeding machines, catching up during infield/outfield, and helping as necessary with certain practice drills. On-field managers also assist with data capture using tools such as TrackMan, Edgertronic, and Synergy Video.
-Program Operations: Aid Director of Baseball Operations in general program tasks like organizing schedules, planning events, managing equipment, and coordinating team meals and food orders.
-Bullpen Catcher: Support the pitching staff by performing duties such as catching bullpens, mound recoveries, flat ground work, pickoff throws, and assisting with pitcher fielding practice.
