ABOUT MISU COLLABORATIVE

We are happy to welcome you to the Migrants in Sustainability (MiSu) Collaborative focused on celebrating, uplifting, and connecting migrant voices in sustainability and environmental fields (conservation, agriculture, climate justice, clean energy, etc), so we can learn from each other, collaborate, and amplify our voices through research, support, education, and advocacy.

JOIN

We invite you to sign up for our MiSu Collaborative, join our initiatives, and attend our meetings by filling out this form. There are a variety of manners to be involved from newsletters to leadership and research. Participants will be vetted before joining the Collaborative to support a safe space. If you do not feel comfortable filling out this form and being on a database, please email us, and we can meet virtually with you to discuss joining our community.

COMMUNITY

It is important for leaders working in sustainability and environmental fields who identify as migrants and/or who are part of migrant families to have a voice in impacting the sustainability solutions that are being created in these catalytic times. Migrant priorities are inherently important because our communities need active and unique representation in the green future to challenge ongoing exclusion. Migrants are also uniquely positioned to impact and catalyze solutions; we bring global and intersectional perspectives informed by our lived experiences and struggles, which are directly linked to the global processes impacting climate, environmental, and social issues. Moreover, many of us bring cultural connections to our home lands and embrace ancestral knowledge about caring for Mother Nature, and we have been leading efforts to heal our social-ecological relationships across borders. This is especially a pivotal time for centering migrant voices because climate changes are creating millions of migrants, and they are rapidly and disproportionately impacting migrants alongside other frontline communities. Migration is a key climate adaptation pathway, and migrants have key expertise central to mitigating risks, adapting to a changing climate, and ensuring the resilience of all people to come for generations to come.

MiSu Collaborative was founded by Equity and Sustainability and the Georgia Tech Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE). We are excited to share that SCoRE has generously offered to support in planning and coordinating this Collaborative and its activities.

Supporter- I would like to be a follower on Instagram/WhatsApp and receive list-serve emails to stay educated and share opportunities and ideas with others.

Volunteer- I would be able to provide expertise and support on a limited basis, but do not have bandwidth to participate regularly with MiSu Collaborative efforts.

Researcher - I would like to contribute to advancing the MiSu Collaborative research priorities and projects.

Participant- I would like to attend monthly Community Conversations for meeting and connecting with others migrants working/interested in sustainability.
