Dear Families/ Carers,

We write to invite your child/ren to take part in this year’s Sacrament of Confirmation Program.

In enroling  your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation you are offering them the opportunity to become full members of the Catholic community. On their Confirmation day, children will confirm their commitment to the promises you made on their behalf at their Baptism. Confirmation is the third and final Rite of Christian Initiation.

In St Jude’s Parish and at Holy Trinity, students now usually receive their Sacraments in the following order: -

Sacrament of First Reconciliation –Year 3

Sacrament of First Eucharist (Holy Communion) –Year 4

Sacrament of Confirmation –Year 6

The Sacrament of Confirmation is available for students in Year 6 who have been Baptised, made their Reconciliation and First Eucharist and are yet to receive this Sacrament.

Therefore, the Parish and schools will be offering all our Year 6 students the opportunity to partake in the Sacrament of Confirmation. So that everyone is informed, all Year 6 students are receiving this information, even though some children will not be receiving the Sacrament.

Preparation of the candidates takes place in Religious Education lessons with classroom teachers, with work also being done at home and at a Family Workshop before the Sacrament. It is an expectation that students and at least one parent attend the workshop, as well as complete the task with their families. Students are also expected to attend a Confirmation Commitment Mass.

Attendance at the workshop and Commitment Mass are compulsory, and families will not be allowed to book a place at a Sacrament of Confirmation Ceremony unless they have attended both of these and completed any associated tasks.

Thursday  13 June          6:00 – 7:00pm Sacrament of Confirmation Family Workshop

Saturday 15 June           6:00pm HT Sacrament of Confirmation Commitment Mass  OR

Sunday 16 June             10:30am HT Sacrament of Confirmation Commitment Mass

Thursday 1 August

5:30pm Sacrament of Confirmation Liturgy (limited numbers at each Mass)  OR

7:00pm Sacrament of Confirmation Liturgy (limited numbers at each Mass)

·       If you would like to enrol your child/ren in this year’s Sacrament of Confirmation Sacramental Program, please complete the Enrolment Form by Wednesday 22 May.

·       In the coming weeks, booking information will be shared with families that enrol their child/ren.
