We are excited to strengthen connections between Houston High School and our community! We want to give students valuable exposures to a wide range of careers and help them see the many opportunities available beyond high school. If you own or represent a business, we’d love to learn how you might partner with us to inspire and prepare the next generation. Career Speaker Series: Local professionals are invited to participate in our bi-monthly Career Speaker Series at Houston High School. Presenters give two 20-minute sessions during the school day to share their career journey, education and training path, and day-to-day responsibilities. This helps students explore career options they may not have considered.

Classroom Guest Speakers - virtually or in person

Student Field Trips to Your Organization

Student Job Shadowing - Each April, while 11th graders are taking the ACT, interested 12th graders have the opportunity to spend a day job shadowing at local businesses. Students are matched with professionals in fields they are considering, giving them a firsthand look at workplace expectations, daily responsibilities, and career pathways.

Teacher Externships - Invite teachers to spend a few hours at your business to learn about your operations, workforce needs, and how academic concepts apply in the workplace. Teachers bring this insight back to the classroom, helping them better prepare students for future careers.

Student internships / Work Based Learning - High school students can leave school during the school day to work a part-time job or internship. These can be paid or unpaid opportunities for students. Students are expected to work at least four hours per week. Hours do not have to take place during the school day.
