Wellington Timebank: A community that shares!

Timebanking is based on the belief that everyone has worth and abilities and everyone has needs. The founding principal is that there are no 'throwaway people' in society, that everyone has something to offer to others.

Wellington Timebank started in 2011 with about 30 people and has grown into a wonderful community of over 900 members (incl. over 115 organisations), who want to share their skills, resources and knowledge

With such a large group there is huge and diverse pool of skills, knowledge and needs of all kinds. Timebanking creates an opportunity for you to access these skills, resources and knowledge and an opportunity for you to share yours. Together we can all benefit. When we share our skills, time and knowledge we build connection, foster wellbeing and trust. Each act of sharing is reciprocated when we make an 'exchange' - our skills is measured in time, one hour equals one 'time credit', you have paid-it-forward. Late you can use your accumulated time credits in exchange for skills, resources or knowledge in something that helps or enhances your life. This is how we harness the true wealth of community.

There are a few questions...why so many?
We ask you the following questions because we want to support you in being a Timebanker in whatever ways you need and make sure that we are fostering a safe and welcoming community.

Your privacy is maintained
We do not share any personal information from this form, our members privacy is important to us. Some of the questions will allow us to report back to our funders in a general way - not any individual data, we are asked to give statistical information as some funders like to know we are helping a wide range of people. It can help us to report broadly over all numbers on demographic data such as ethnicity, age, suburb etc. There is NO identifying information.

What happens after filling this in?
We send you an email to invite you to an 'Intro to Wellington Timebank' group session to learn the basics of Timebanking, how to use the online members page to post offers and requests, and to complete the joining process.
