Kākano means seed in Māori, and conveys growth, development, and expansion. Even before a seed is planted or nourished, it has inherent promise, and the capability to take root, develop and grow.
We’re looking for a small cohort of people who enjoy the challenges of working at the margins of the Church and want to better discern where God is at work in the people around them—so they can be equipped for local mission and begin to “make disciples who make disciples”.
It is our hope that through the Kākano Local Mission Incubator we will see the seeds sown for a new kind of missional leader within a community of people passionate about reaching those beyond the Church with the Good News in our region.
What Commitment to Kākano looks like:
2 evening meal sessions
3 weekend retreats at Mamaku Grove in Takaka;
A weekly small group "huddle" session (1.5 hours per week, and time and place by negotiation)
We’ll also engage in a set of short readings between huddle sessions, and engage deeply in practical pioneer work while exploring God’s missional call on your own life.
Financial Cost: $250pp for the whole year. If cost is an issue, we have a grant available to assist as required.
