UNC’s Postdoc Association (PDA) is in need for volunteers for the upcoming UNC Science Expo. The annual UNC Science Expo will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025, on the lawn of the Morehead Planetarium, where UNC postdocs will have two stalls this year. The goal of this event is to bring science closer to the public in a fun and interactive way. We plan to host a “Code Breaker” event, where participants will break code by translating binary sequences into fun words. Our second table, hosted by PDA’s Minority Postdoc Alliance, will bring the an archeological dig involving artifacts from ancient civilizations to the Expo visitors. A second activity at this table will explore traditionally under-represented people in STEAM discoveries. Small prizes will be given to participants to make it even more fun. To make this event as successful as possible, your help is needed to supervise the event and interact with attendees. No background knowledge required- all postdocs from all fields are welcome! To sign up for this great volunteer opportunity please complete this sign-up form before 11:59PM on April 2, 2025: Volunteers will receive a free breakfast, and free pizza will be provided for lunch by the Morehead Planetarium. Best of all you will experience the joy of children that are excited about science and meet other postdocs in the process.
