Thank you for taking the time to contribute to Loco Bloco's Carnaval Theme selection process and for giving us your creativity and ideas! The first step in the process is submitting a Theme Statement using the form below.
*Please keep in mind that we always aim to have our Carnaval Theme reflect our community and Mission/Vision/Values:
OUR MISSIONThrough transformative youth development services rooted in the cultural and artistic traditions of our communities, we accompany youth and their families on their path to realize their full potential as powerful and healthy members of society. Our programs include tutoring, academic enrichment, social/emotional support, sports, youth workforce, and Afro-Latino arts education and performance.OUR VISIONWe envision a community in which our youth are self-empowered through education and artistic expression, have overcome discrimination, and contribute to positive change in their communities. As part of this vision, all of San Francisco's youth and families have access to the opportunities they need to thrive and create a city that is safe, equitable, inter-connected and community-led.OUR MAGICRather than follow the prescribed path for youth and art organizations, our work is centered on using the innate assets of our youth & families to develop their leadership and ability to challenge discrimination and oppression. Our programs connect youth of color to their community and encourage our community to view their youth as leaders, culture-bearers and powerful agents of change. We are authentically community led by families, artists and alumni of our programs and offer culturally relevant, empowering experiences that entire families can participate in together.OUR VALUESAccountability - Family - Health - Artivism - Inclusion - Social Justice - Education - Grit - Tradition

Helpful questions to ask yourself before submitting:
How does this theme connect to Loco Bloco's History and/or Mission Statement?
Have you tried to explain this theme to a youth and do they seem to understand the concept?
Can you see it rocked on a t-shirt and banner?
If you were able to answer these questions positively then you are ready to submit!
Best of Luck, and thank you for the Loco-Love!
