Michigan Liberation | Mental Health Community Luncheon and Power Building Gathering

You have been invited to participate in a Mental Health Community Luncheon and Power Building Gathering! Hosted by Michigan Liberation's Care Not Criminalization Team.

Join us for an opportunity to break bread, build community power and break the stigma.

community members in attendance will have an opportunity to develop a strategic plan on how we can stop the mental health and substance use stigmas in our communities, in our homes, and on an institutional level. There will also be community leaders, and advocates who will share their stories to highlight the dangers of police responding to those with disabilities or experiencing homelessness. The barriers Black, indigenous and other communities of color experience when seeking mental health treatment services, and how not having access to resources has impacted them. Others will talk about the interconnections of poverty, mental health and substance use. Food and beverages will be provided

This event will be followed by continuous community meetings to build out a plan and turn our words into actions that break the stigma.

When: 5/20/23, 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Where: Redford Library 25320 W. Six mile rd. Redford MI 48240 (Meeting room A).
