Tech For Liberation (T4L) has called on the student body of Stanford University to divest their labor from all companies complicit in apartheid and genocide.
Failing to adhere to this boycott violates Stanford's own Fundamental Standard in which "students are expected to respect and uphold the rights and dignity of others regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socio-economic status," and that "students should be aware that they may be subject to discipline at Stanford University for acts of misconduct including: Knowingly or recklessly exposing others to significant danger."
In addition to University policy, labor for weapons and surveillance violates the National Society for Professional Engineers' Code of Conduct in which:
"Engineers, in the fulfillment of their professional duties, shall:
- Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public
- Conduct themselves honorably, responsibly, ethically, and lawfully so as to enhance the honor, reputation, and usefulness of the profession
- Shall not aid or abet the unlawful practice of engineering by a person or firm
- Shall accept personal responsibility for their professional activities"
As students, faculty, staff, and alums of Stanford University, we affirm our commitment to human rights. We have the power to decide how we invest our resources and uphold commitment to Palestinian liberation. By signing, we commit to a labor boycott of weapons and surveillance manufacturing companies, including:
