Positioning our “portals” (personal devices) as catalytic frames for playful dancing, this movement practice harnesses both embodied and digital technologies. Facilitating from our Florida garage, we will

observe consequentiality
+ embody phrase material.

We will draw upon who + what presently inspire us, our shared experiences as performers, our 15-year choreographic collaboration, and our current creative research. We invite you to connect with self and your immediate and virtual worlds by dancing joyfully and yielding to the available moment. Bring your curiosity, your portal, and perhaps a writing/drawing utensil and surface.

XAN BURLEY + ALEX SPRINGER were Brooklyn-based until 2018, received MFAs from Smith College in 2020, and are currently Assistant Professors at the University of Florida. They performed with Doug Varone and Dancers until 2017 and have been grateful to work on projects with Alexandra Beller, Jeanine Durning, Shannon Gillen, Angie Hauser, Heidi Henderson, and Donnell Oakley, among others. Their co-choreography has been presented by venues such as Movement Research, Danspace Project, Joe’s Pub, the 92Y, American Dance Festival (NC), and the School for Contemporary Dance and Thought (MA). Artist residencies include the Marble House Project, University Settlement, Center for Performance Research, and Jacob’s Pillow, among others. They have enjoyed past teaching at the Bates Dance Festival, Gibney, SUNY Purchase, the University of Maryland, and Smith College.
