Throughout the month of April, students are giving back to their community and winning prizes by reading as many books as possible! The Read-a-Thon is a fundraiser for the Hancock County Food Drive, an annual event that raises support for 17 food pantries, soup kitchens, and school programs in Hancock County. By signing up below, Read-A-Thon participants can fundraise for the amount of time they spend reading in April. Thank you for being a part of this effort to end food insecurity in our community! Learn more about the Food Drive at www.hcfooddrive.org.
How It Works:
Sign up here, then gather your Read-a-Thon materials: a reading log to track your reading minutes, and a template letter that you can share with friends and family.
TIP: Need help printing these documents? Go to your local library and ask your librarian to help you!
Ask for support! Come up with a list of at least 3 friends and family members that you think will support your Read-a-Thon fundraiser. Sponsors make the Read-a-thon successful by agreeing to pledge a certain amount (such as $0.05 or $0.10) per minute spent reading. Sponsors can also make a flat donation. Ask your sponsor to register here, or by visiting www.hcfooddrive.org/read-a-thon-2024.
Read! Use your reading log to keep track of how many minutes you spend reading during the month of April. Make sure to challenge yourself to reach a goal! Can you spend 30 minutes reading every single day for the whole month?
Submit your results here, or by emailing Rachel@HealthyAcadia.org, by May 5th, 2024. Note: If you don't complete this step by May 5th, 2024, you may not be eligible to receive a prize!
When we receive your results, we will contact your sponsors to let them know how many minutes you spent reading in April, so they can make a donation.
Win prizes! The top 3 participants who spend the most time reading will each receive a gift certificate to a Hancock County book store.
