La Constituyente de Mujeres y Género (WGC) es uno de los nueve grupos oficiales de partes interesadas de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático (CMNUCC). Creado en 2009, el WGC está formado actualmente por más de 50 organizaciones y redes de la sociedad civil de mujeres y ecologistas. Consulte nuestro sitio web para obtener una lista actualizada.
LAC-WGC será uno de los nodos regionales guiado en un primer plano por principios del WGC. En concreto, el objetivo del LAC-WGC será amplificar la voz, preocupaciones, contextos y exigencias de las organizaciones y colectivas de mujeres en toda su diversidad, personas no binarias, feministas y activistas que se unen por la justicia de género y que se articulan para la región, trabajando en la intersección con cambio climático. Este nodo regional tiene también el objetivo de fortalecer la incidencia política particularmente en el espacio multilateral de la CMNUCC y los procesos relacionados con el clima en Latinoamérica y el Caribe, para desarrollar, reflexionar y promover posiciones comunes que forman parte de la Constituyente de Mujeres y Género (WGC). LAC-WGC busca reunir ONGs feministas de LAC, incluyendo observadores acreditados ante la CMNUCC y aquellos que no están acreditados para trabajar democráticamente hacia el logro de sus objetivos.
Como un subconjunto del WGC, LAC-WGC se basa en los compromisos globales y regionales por la justicia económica, de géner y climática, particularmente siguiendo los compromisos relacionados y las Convenciones de Río, en particular en el camino a la COP30 en Brasil. LAC-WGC trabajará para fortalecer los vínculos locales, regionales y globales para incidir en garantizar que los derechos humanos y la igualdad de género estén firmemente anclados en todas las acciones climáticas bajo la CMNUCC y para desafiar el modelo económico extractivo, explotador y patriarcal que ha dado lugar a la crisis climática.

The
Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) is one of the nine official stakeholder groups of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Established in 2009, the WGC now consists of more than 50 women’s and environmental civil society organizations and networks. Please check our website for an

LAC-WGC will be one of the regional nodes guided primarily by the WGC principles. Particularly, the objective of the LAC-WGC will be to amplify the voice, concerns, contexts and demands of organisations and collectives of women in all their diversity, non-binary people, feminists and activists who unite for gender justice and articulate for the region, working at the intersection with climate change. This regional node also aims to strengthen advocacy particularly in the multilateral space of the UNFCCC and climate-related processes in Latin America and the Caribbean, to develop, reflect and promote common positions that are part of the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC). LAC-WGC seeks to bring together feminist NGOs from LAC, including accredited observers to the UNFCCC and those who are not accredited, to work democratically towards achieving its objectives.
As a subset of the WGC, LAC-WGC draws upon global and regional commitments to gender equality and women’s rights, especially as they relate to climate change, and toward the achievement of related commitments and Rio-Conventions, particularly on the road to COP30 in Brazil. LAC-WGC works to enhance local, regional and global forward and backward linkages to ensure that human rights and gender equality are firmly anchored in all climate actions under the UNFCCC and to challenge the extractive, exploitative and patriarchal economic model which has resulted in the climate crisis.
