Womxn's Action Commission Specialized Lead Application
The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) Womxn’s Action Commission (WAC) is one of eight diversity commissions founded by the ASUW. Each commission has a mandate to put on educational programs each quarter, as well as to serve and advocate for its constituency within the student government and the administration. The WAC seeks a social justice framework that recognizes and affirms the multiple and intersecting identities held by woman-identified and/or female-identified-at-birth constituents. For all specialized lead positions, there will be a 2-4 hour weekly time commitment (hours will vary based upon need), that includes the weekly 1-hr WAC meeting from Fall 2018-Spring 2019.

During times of high level programming activities, the hours team member will work will most likely fluctuate and/or increase, but never more than a manageable time. Open discussions with the director are encouraged and will occur to find a balanced team member workload during these times.
The commission will work to schedule around personal and academic availabilities.
In addition to the tasks specified below, specialized leads [and other volunteers/team members] will have the opportunity to provide critiques and feedback, plan and execute existing programming, and initiate their own programs/projects.

The commission director will practice consistent communication and transparency with all team members and volunteers.
Each weekly meeting will be a safe space where the director will report programming advocacy updates while the team members are more than welcome to share and discuss new ideas for the entity.

Though these positions are unpaid, the WAC emphasizes the value of these team positions. They will provide individuals with concrete skills, professional/organizing experience, networking, references/letters of recommendation, and community building opportunities. Beyond these concrete benefits, the WAC aims to push these team positions to be spaces of radical learning (and unlearning!), healing, and celebration.

Social Media Coordinator:
-Manage the WAC’s social media platforms
-Update the WAC website with the latest news/events the entity is a part of
-Create ways to expand our outreach to the community via social media

ASUW Student Senate Liaison
-Act as a proxy for the Director at the ASUW Student Senate Meetings, every Tuesday from 5-7PM
-Collaborate with the Director and the WAC Constituents on legislation pertaining to issues regarding feminism and gender equity
-Represent the WAC at any ASUW Student Senate meeting and other related events
