Suggestion Box--Sessions & Summer 2020--New England Friends
Because Friends in New England will not be able to gather in person for our annual Sessions this summer, New England Yearly Meeting will be offering digital programming and opportunities for connection this summer. Through these offerings, we aim to be responsive and sensitive to the current and emerging needs of Friends and Friends Meetings across New England.

Acknowledging that many Friends will feel a deep desire for connection during the first week in August, we will consider scheduling some activities this summer prior to, and potentially following, the traditional one-week schedule for Annual Sessions.

Programming will be designed to best meet the needs, availability, and circumstances of those who may benefit from participating. Where possible and appropriate, we will explore how some traditional Sessions activities (such as “coffeehouse”) may be successfully translated to a digital or remote format.

In our planning of programming during the summer of 2020, we will consider: access challenges, including technology issues, care for trauma and grief, opportunities for joy and celebration of our work and witness, multiage worship and fellowship, informal community building, spiritual nurture, support for the thriving of local meetings, and nurture of gifts in ministry.

In this planning, we will be in frequent consultation with the Clerk of Ministry & Counsel and with youth ministries staff and to ensure the Yearly Meeting provides appropriate opportunities for connection that meet the needs of Friends of all ages.

In this mid-spring phase of transitioning to a remote event, we welcome your feedback and ideas. Please use the form below to tell us what is on your mind and in your heart in regards to New England Friends and our connections this summer. Please note that this is a busy time for our small group so we will not respond to each individual suggestion but will review and incorporate the spirit of what we hear from Friends to our best ability.

Please submit the form below to share with us.
