Engineering for Explorers
Engineering for Explorers
12/07/19, 1:00-4:00
Grades: 3-5

In this workshop, students will move through two engineering design challenges. In the first design challenge, students will think about boats that are used for exploring and traveling long distances back when new lands were once discovered. They will design a boat based on historical boats that explorers have used, explore the properties of materials, and test their boats to see if they float and how much weight they can hold. For the second design challenge, the students will design and build structures to help the explorers survived their first winter in harsh weather conditions. Their structures will need to survive the wind and snow. This workshop has been discounted since this is the first time instructors will be leading a CEEO workshop. An experienced CEEO staff person will also be there to mentor the instructors.
