Lunch with the JEA President application

Lunch with the President is a two-hour activity at the national convention offering student journalists a chance to meet with JEA’s president and a network of peers for a personal conversation about student media. Students will have an opportunity to practice journalism, report on the state scholastic media and share ideas or agenda items coming from their own programs to be heard by the president. The special event is a multi-way conversation and another opportunity to connect with other students from media programs around the country to form a small-group professional learning community.

Based on this application, JEA will select up to 10 students to meet with the president to discuss issues in scholastic journalism. The takes place in the JEA suite at the convention hotel and includes complimentary lunch. Participants will have the president’s attention for ideas and suggestions related to student and adviser needs in student media. Students selected for Lunch with the President are encouraged to produce some kind of piece based on the interview for publication at home in their student media. JEA will promote the finished pieces on the organization's website and social media accounts.
