How Do I Participate in the Adopt-A-Family Program?
Here’s how the program will work in four simple steps:

Step 1: Please fill out the form below with your name and contact information. Someone from The Guidance Center's Development team will contact you to provide information about your adopted family. In addition, we will share a brief story about the family and why they will benefit from being adopted this holiday season.

Step 2: Purchase and wrap gifts from the wish list that is included in the information given to you about your adopted family. You may also wish to purchase gift cards (see below). Have fun, and include your children, other family members, co-workers, and friends in the process!

Step 3: Decorate a holiday card. This is where the true holiday spirit will come alive. You can get everyone involved in creating festive holiday cards for your adopted family. We encourage you to include a heartwarming message in those cards (see below).

Step 4: Deliver your wrapped gifts and holiday cards (see below). We are the bright green building located at 1301 Pine Avenue on the corner of Anaheim and Pine. A member of the Development team will happily greet and assist you with your gifts.

Important Notes!
a) Before dropping off your presents, please ensure each wrapped gift and card has a gift tag or label attached with the name of the family member for whom the gift is intended.

b) You do not need to include your name on gifts; however, you are welcome to include your first name. No last names please.

c) Due to the increase in fraud, we ask that you please purchase gift cards from retailers where gift cards are stored in locked and secured areas. Among our preferred retailers include Target and Ralph's.

d) As a reminder, we kindly ask that you please do not include cash or alcohol in your gifts for your adopted family. However, VISA gift cards are accepted.

e) To best coordinate and expedite the drop off process, we are requiring that you sign up to drop off your gifts on a designated date/time. Sign up information will be shared once you have been matched with a family.

**If you would like to participate but are unable to shop for gifts, you can make a monetary donation of any amount, and we will gift the family with a gift card so they can go shopping on their own. To do so, please visit tgclb.org/donate and select "Adopt-A-Family" as the gift designation.**

Next steps:
Thank you so much for sharing your holiday spirit with a family in need! A member of The Guidance Center's Development team will reach out to you within 7-10 business days with information about the family.

Please note that we encourage you to wrap and label all gifts for your adopted family. To protect and maintain our clients’ confidentiality, we ask that you drop the gifts off at our Long Beach headquarters located at 1301 Pine Avenue. The therapist assigned to that family will deliver the gifts directly to them.
